Two officers fired their service weapons at Alex Pretti during the confrontation with him in Minneapolis, according to a preliminary report from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

The report, stemming from the initial investigation by the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding the shooting of Pretti, shows that a Border Patrol agent shouted several times "He has a gun" before two officers fired, while agents were struggling with him on the ground. The report does not specifically state whether the bullets fired by the two police officers hit Pretti.

A CNN analysis of available footage of the incident showed that one officer appears to have drawn Pretti's weapon from his holster moments before the shots were fired.

The report adds that "after the shooting, a Border Patrol agent informed that he was in possession of Pretti's firearm. BPA confiscated and secured Pretti's firearm in their vehicle."
