Spain's pork exports to China are in danger due to an outbreak of the virus, the first since 1994, which coincides with the country's efforts to gain market shares in the pork sector. Although there is a risk of imposing bans, a recent agreement between China and Spain could limit restrictions only to the affected region, not to the entire country.

Spain, the main producer of pork in the European Union, is already facing difficulties in the European market, where prices have dropped by 20% since July. The Ministry of Agriculture has activated emergency measures and urged farms to strengthen security while investigating the source of the infection. The virus, harmless to humans, has already affected the industry in Germany, with many countries imposing bans on pork from this country.
