Alexandru Bociu, the president of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA), criticized the European Commission's decision to extend the ban on the export of sheep and goats from Romania until December 31, 2026.

Bociu stated that this measure is disproportionate and does not reflect the epidemiological reality on the ground, emphasizing that the health situation of animals in Romania is stable. He highlighted the importance of exports for the local economy and called for a reassessment of this decision, arguing that the current restrictions severely affect Romanian farmers.

Bociu requested closer collaboration with European authorities to ensure a fair and equitable approach in managing the situation.
