Alexei Zhuravlev, a Russian parliamentarian and leader of the nationalist party Rodina, stated that Russia should use tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine to force Kiev's surrender.
In a video message, Zhuravlev asserted that there should be no discussions about the use of nuclear weapons, emphasizing that Russia must strike decisively against the enemy. These statements come in the context of growing concerns in the US and Europe regarding a possible escalation of the conflict by Russia, with President Putin suspected of considering the use of nuclear weapons as a last resort.
Although there is no evidence that Putin has decided to use nuclear weapons, rhetoric has intensified following the CIA director's visit to Moscow, who attempted to persuade the Kremlin to avoid escalation. Russia recently conducted a test with a nuclear missile, but there are no indications that Putin intends to actually use nuclear weapons, considering the risks of a major confrontation with its partners, such as China, which has firmly opposed their use.
