The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, accused Russia of intentionally attacking the exclusion zone around the decommissioned nuclear power plant in Chernobyl, after a Shahed drone struck a building intended for the storage of nuclear waste.

Zelensky emphasized that, although no increases in radiation levels have been recorded, the attack represents a despicable act by Russia. He also confirmed that there have been no increases in radiation levels up to this point.

The affected building was prepared to receive containers with spent nuclear fuel, but at the time of the attack, there was no fuel there, according to the company Energoatom. The fire caused by the impact was quickly extinguished.
