Japanese carmaker Nissan has begun formal consultations with the employees' union at its regional office in France over a restructuring that could lead to redundancies. The office, with 560 employees, will look at options for voluntary departures ahead of possible forced redundancies. The move is part of a global plan to cut its workforce by 15% and production capacity by almost 30% amid weak sales in China and the US.
