The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management issued a yellow flood warning on Sunday for small rivers in the counties of Galați and Vaslui. The warning is valid until Monday at 12:00, amid recent rainfall and forecast precipitation.
Hydrologists warn that water accumulation and the propagation of flood waves may lead to significant rises in river flows and levels. Runoff on slopes, torrents and streams is possible, as are flash floods on small rivers, with a risk of local flooding and water levels exceeding the warning thresholds.
The warning covers the left-bank tributaries of the Siret, downstream from the Lungoci hydrometric station, in Galați County, as well as the tributaries of the Prut, downstream from the Fălciu station, in the counties of Vaslui and Galați.
Over the next two days, temperatures will gradually rise, but in the east and southeast of the country they will remain below normal for this time of year. Light rain and locally intensifying winds are forecast for Monday, while on Tuesday the weather will warm slightly, with isolated precipitation in the east, center and mountains.
