Nike has decided to lay off approximately 1,400 employees globally, mainly from technology departments, as part of a broader restructuring of operations. This measure is part of the 'Win Now' recovery strategy, aimed at streamlining the company's operations and accelerating growth in an economic context marked by declining sales.
Operational Director Venkatesh Alagirisamy emphasized that the reorganization includes modernizing Air production, relocating some Converse Footwear operations, and integrating supply chain activities into the structures of the footwear and apparel divisions. Alagirisamy mentioned that these changes will significantly affect employees and the teams they are part of, highlighting the difficulty of the measure.
