On December 23, the U.S. Department of Justice made nearly 8,000 new documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal available. These files include hundreds of video and audio recordings, including surveillance footage from August 2019, when Epstein was found dead in his cell. The documents include transcripts of hearings, FBI files, emails, and press articles.
The department was legally required to release this information by December 19, but announced that it would do so gradually, to censor details about the individuals mentioned. Recently, a photograph of Donald Trump, which had been previously removed, was republished, as no evidence was found that any victim of Epstein was present in it. Additionally, there were reports of missing files, including images of paintings and a photograph of Trump, Epstein, and Ghislaine Maxwell.
