The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that the current campaign against Iran "is not over", in a video statement that generated controversy. Despite his claims regarding achievements in the recent war, opposition leaders contest the effectiveness of the government's actions, asserting that the declared objectives have not been met.
Netanyahu emphasized that Iranian propaganda has managed to influence the Israeli media and presented Israel's historical achievements, including the destruction of the Iranian nuclear program: "We managed to destroy its nuclear program, to destroy its missile program".
He stated that Israel attacked Iran to prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon, but he has been criticized for failing to achieve the established war objectives. The opposition, represented by leaders Yair Golan and Yair Lapid, pointed out that Netanyahu has failed to win the war and called for capable leadership to ensure Israel's security.
"Netanyahu is under pressure because he knows that the war objectives [against Iran] have not been met", wrote the leader of the Democracy party, Yair Golan. "When you are victorious and win, you do not need to declare every few days that you have been victorious and have won" he added.
"Netanyahu is once again boasting about the army's achievements, so that we forget his total failure. He has not achieved any of the war objectives that he himself defined" added opposition leader Yair Lapid.
Criticism has also been amplified by controversial financial allocations for the ultra-Orthodox community, in a context where many citizens face security threats.
