Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO, had a discussion on Friday with the head of American diplomacy, Marco Rubio, focused on strengthening security in the Arctic. This meeting was prompted by statements from President Donald Trump, who expressed a desire to take control of Greenland, considering it essential for the national security of the USA. Trump raised concerns among allies by refusing to rule out the use of military force to occupy this autonomous territory of Denmark. In this context, NATO is concentrating its efforts on strengthening capabilities in the region to diminish Washington's interest in Greenland. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned that an American attack on the island could lead to the end of the Western military alliance. However, General Alexus Grynkewich, the commander of NATO forces in Europe, stated that the Alliance is not in crisis.
