The NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, stated that the alliance will continue to collaborate with Denmark and Greenland in the field of Arctic security, emphasizing the importance of the Arctic for collective security. During the meeting with Danish and Greenlandic officials, discussions were held about increasing Denmark's investments in defense capabilities, including the acquisition of drones and F-35 fighter jets.

A NATO monitoring mission in Greenland and the Arctic was also proposed, an idea supported by the Danish Minister of Defense. This initiative comes in the context of tensions generated by U.S. President Donald Trump's claims over Greenland, which prompted reactions from the European Union and European leaders.
