Namewee, a Malaysian rapper, was arrested in connection with the death of influencer Iris Hsieh, after the police reclassified the case as a murder.

The police announced that Namewee, 42 years old, was the last person seen together with Iris Hsieh, 31 years old. He was in Malaysia to discuss a commercial video he was set to direct. Hsieh's social media manager confirmed Namewee's presence in the country.

Although he denies the allegations of drug consumption and illegal possession, he was arrested again to assist with the investigation, after the police reclassified Hsieh's death as a homicide. Namewee turned himself in on Wednesday morning and was placed in preventive detention for six days, according to his lawyer.
