The Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology has announced a new eruption of Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. The craters at the summit have emitted large amounts of ash, and the alert for air traffic has been raised to the maximum level, although the airport in Catania remains open. Volcanic activity affects the daily lives of thousands of people, influencing agriculture and public health, but it also attracts tourists.
