Major General Antonio Aguto, former commander of the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine, was involved in a serious incident in which classified maps were left on a train for over 24 hours. The Pentagon's inspector general report revealed that Aguto brought these maps from Germany to Ukraine and entrusted them to his staff, but failed to recover them upon returning to Poland. Additionally, Aguto suffered a concussion after consuming excessive alcohol at a dinner in Kiev, where he fell multiple times.
The investigation confirmed that the effects of alcohol intoxication contributed to his falls. Aguto acknowledged responsibility for the incident and stated that he acted in good faith, considering that he was not subject to restrictions regarding alcohol consumption. The report also included allegations about a toxic work environment within his unit, although Aguto was not responsible for these issues.
