On Sunday, the polling stations for the legislative elections in Hungary closed at 7:00 PM (local time), and voter turnout was nearly 80%, an absolute record. Although there are no exit polls, final surveys suggest that the opposition party Tisza could win the elections, obtaining 57% of the votes and 135 seats in the 199-seat parliament, surpassing Viktor Orbán's nationalist party Fidesz. A survey conducted by Research Center 21 places Tisza at 55% of the votes and 132 seats. The turnout rate was 77.80% by 6:30 PM, with the highest attendance in the constituency of the opposition leader, Péter Magyar. Although voting has ended, those who were in line were able to cast their votes. The vote counting commissions will seal the ballot boxes and perform administrative tasks before opening the boxes, and the results will be communicated only after all polling stations have closed. Votes cast in transit will be added to the boxes of 106 polling stations that will not be opened on Sunday evening. The electoral commission will tally the votes and determine the election results by next Saturday at the latest.
