Keir Starmer's position in Great Britain seems increasingly fragile, with more Labour leaders calling for his resignation following the controversial appointment of Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the United States.

The position of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is becoming increasingly fragile, in the context of the controversies generated by the appointment of Peter Mandelson as the United Kingdom's ambassador to the United States, having previous ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Sources within the Labour Party suggest that some cabinet members are considering Starmer's resignation request, and a government advisor estimates that the chances of him remaining in office until the end of the week are 50%.

Starmer is facing additional challenges following the departure of his chief political strategist, Morgan McSweeney, who played a crucial role in the Labour Party's success in the 2024 elections. Without his support, Starmer must directly confront the political consequences of the scandal. Within the party, it is expected that Starmer will attempt a government reshuffle, but there is skepticism about its acceptance by Angela Rayner, considered a potential successor.

Even if Starmer manages to overcome the scandal related to Mandelson, the pressure will continue, given the by-elections scheduled for February 26 in the Gorton and Denton constituencies, where the Labour Party is losing influence. Angela Rayner is seen as the main favorite for the position of Prime Minister, but there are also other potential candidates within the party.
