Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, stated in Baghdad that Iran holds exclusive responsibility for restoring traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to pre-conflict levels that began in February.

He emphasized that, according to a memorandum of understanding, operations will return to normal after 30 days and that any external intervention will complicate the situation and delay the reopening of the strait. Araghchi called for respect for the memorandum signed between Washington and Tehran, which provides for the reactivation of the maritime route.

He also mentioned the recent attacks by the United States on Iran and its reprisals against Bahrain and Kuwait. Iran and Oman share the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world's oil previously passed. Oman announced the opening of a temporary maritime corridor without transit fees. Araghchi also requested a new security framework for Gulf countries, free from external interference.
