Hezbollah, through its leader Naim Qassem, said that any attempt by the Lebanese government to disarm the organization will lead to civil conflict, stressing that the group will not give up its weapons until Israel withdraws from southern Lebanon. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned Qassem's threats, saying no party has the right to carry weapons outside the state. Although Hezbollah has lost political influence, it remains a significant force among the Shiite community, and calls for disarmament are growing in Lebanese society.
