Snowfall in the northeast United States has caused delays for over 3,900 flights, according to data from FlightAware. New York experienced its heaviest snowfall in nearly four years, with an 11-centimeter snow cover in Central Park, the highest level since January 2022. Other areas in the state recorded up to 19 centimeters of snow.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for more than half of the state's counties. Nationally, about 770 flights were canceled, with the most affected airports being JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark. Airports in Boston and Philadelphia also reported significant delays. In New Jersey and Connecticut, where a state of emergency was declared, snow depths of up to 23.8 centimeters were recorded.
