U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that Vladimir Putin does not intend to attack NATO territory and announced new diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are expected to travel to Moscow and possibly Kyiv to present a peace proposal.

“Putin does not intend to attack NATO territory,” Trump said in the Oval Office, reiterating a statement he also made a week earlier. The claim comes after Germany accused Russia of sending a drone loaded with explosives to Leipzig airport at the beginning of August.

Trump said he had sent Kushner and Witkoff to determine whether progress could be made, adding that there was a strong chance of a favorable outcome. According to Reuters sources, the trip to Moscow was planned for the weekend, while the visit to Kyiv had not been finalized.

The U.S. administration’s initiatives have so far produced no major results, and negotiations have been deadlocked for several months. At the end of August, CIA Director John Ratcliffe traveled to Moscow for talks on a possible solution. Western intelligence services, however, doubt that Putin is seeking a quick agreement, while Ukrainian intelligence services warn that Russia could intensify the war. On Friday, a Russian drone struck the SBU headquarters in Kyiv. [sic]`? not. Need exact no sic. End sentence. Ensure valid JSON. Must not add. There is issue Romanian
