A man died after jumping from the Obor overpass; police and prosecutors are investigating the case

A man died on Saturday, September 5, 2026, after jumping from the Obor overpass in Bucharest. Officers from Police Section 9 were notified through a 112 call at around 11:30 a.m. that a person had apparently fallen from the overpass located in Sector 2.
Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene, but despite efforts to save the victim, the SMURD crew pronounced the man dead.
Police cordoned off the area, and the case was taken over by the Homicide Service of the Bucharest Police. The investigation is being conducted together with the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Tribunal to establish the facts and the circumstances in which the incident occurred.
The body will be transported to the National Institute of Legal Medicine, where an autopsy will be performed. The investigation is ongoing.
