A 66-year-old man from Bucharest died on Friday in the Făgăraș Mountains after slipping and falling approximately 200 meters in the Iezerul Caprei area. Mountain rescuers intervened urgently, but the victim could not be saved.
Salvamont Sibiu announced that, after the accident occurred, a rescue team went to the scene. The SMURD Brașov helicopter was also requested for the operation, as was support from mountain rescuers in Argeș.
As a result of the fall, the man suffered injuries incompatible with life and died. His body was taken by the air medical crew and transported to Sibiu International Airport.
At the airport, the victim was handed over to representatives of the Institute of Legal Medicine to carry out the procedures required by law. Salvamont Sibiu extended its condolences to the man's family and loved ones. As of the time the information was transmitted, rescuers had not provided further details about the exact circumstances in which the slip occurred.
