Argeș Mountain Rescue teams rescued two tourists stranded in the Făgăraș Mountains

The Argeș mountain rescuers intervened on Friday night into Saturday to recover two tourists who had become stranded on a route in the Făgăraș Mountains after becoming physically exhausted. One of the people, a young woman, also suffered a leg dislocation and could no longer continue the hike.

The intervention took place at night and lasted approximately five hours. The rescuers managed to safely bring both tourists down to the Transfăgărășan. According to Salvamont, the route between Călțun Refuge and the Transfăgărășan Tunnel is of medium difficulty and is marked with a blue trail marker, but choosing an unsuitable schedule and exhaustion increased the risks.

The mountain rescuers point out that the walking pace must be adapted to that of the slowest member of the group, and the route must be planned so that hikers are not caught by darkness. A headlamp with spare batteries, an emergency blanket, and a medical kit with an elastic bandage are recommended in the backpack.
