The Argeș mountain rescuers intervened to evacuate a tourist with a fracture in the Făgăraș Mountains

Argeș mountain rescuers intervened on Sunday to provide first aid and evacuate a 40-year-old man who suffered a lower-limb fracture in the area of Lake Galbena, in the Făgăraș Mountains.

The Argeș Salvamont first-response team headed to the victim, while additional support and backup teams were mobilized for the operation. Initially, an air intervention was unavailable, so rescuers began preparations for a ground evacuation.

Subsequently, the SMURD helicopter from POA Târgu Mureș took off for the mountainous area. The air evacuation was to be carried out only if the necessary weather and flight conditions were met. Rescuers continued their checks and intervention in the difficult-to-access sector near Lake Galbena.

Salvamont recommends that tourists in the area exercise caution, avoid blocking access for intervention teams, and follow the instructions of the mountain rescuers.
