Greece will introduce strict penalties from September for drivers who break traffic rules, especially those who use cell phones while driving. Fines can be up to €350, and for speeding over 200km/h, fines can be up to €8,000 and licenses can be suspended for 4 years. Authorities are also investing in infrastructure, with speed cameras and improved lighting, to reduce accidents, which have soared since the pandemic, with 665 deaths reported last year. Building a culture of responsibility among drivers is also key to road safety.
