Over 2,100 penalties applied by police on highways during the period of July 6-12

The highway police applied, between July 6 and 12, 2026, a total of 2,129 contraventional sanctions, the majority being for exceeding the legal speed limit, with 519 fines.

Another 193 sanctions were issued to drivers who were not wearing seat belts. Additionally, 13 sanctions were applied for technical defects of vehicles and 30 for the lack of Periodic Technical Inspection. The police sanctioned 267 drivers for not respecting the rules regarding driving hours, 21 for stopping on the emergency lane, and 12 for illegal overtaking.

As a result of the checks, 103 driving licenses were retained, of which 53 for excessive speed, and 104 registration certificates. On July 12, a driver was caught driving at 212 km/h on the A1, receiving a fine of 4,325 lei and a suspension of the license for 120 days. Another driver was detected at 181 km/h on the A3, without a front registration plate, and was left without a license for 90 days.
