The Greek Ministry of Transport has announced a bill that will regulate the use of electric scooters, following an alarming increase in accidents involving young people. The bill, which will be put to a vote, includes a ban on the use of electric scooters for individuals under the age of 17. Additionally, the law will introduce higher fines for dangerous driving and will make accident insurance mandatory.
Greek officials emphasize that statistics show an increase in accidents among teenagers, with approximately 400 children and adolescents injured last year, half of whom required hospitalization, according to the Federation of Hospital Employees in Greece. These measures are intended to improve the safety of electric scooter users.
