Wadephul, a German diplomat based in the Middle East, stressed the importance of immediate negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program as a precondition for de-escalating the conflict with Israel. Although Iran has previously turned down the invitation to talks, Germany, France and the UK remain ready to work together. Tensions have escalated recently, with Israel bombing Iranian nuclear facilities and Iran announcing it would not attend talks with the US delegation.
