Daniel Freund, a Member of the European Parliament from the Greens in Germany, has filed a lawsuit against Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, accusing him of a cyber attack. The complaint was submitted to the Krefeld Prosecutor's Office, with the support of the Society for Civil Rights (GFF). Freund claims that last year, hackers attempted to install spyware on his devices, using software from the provider Candiru, associated with the Hungarian authorities.

He received a phishing email containing a fake link for the installation of the program. Freund stated that if the suspicions are confirmed, it would represent a serious attack on the European Parliament. Criticizing corruption in Hungary, he emphasizes that no one should be afraid of monitoring to defend democratic values. The purpose of the complaint is to clarify and prevent cyber attacks that violate confidentiality and IT legislation.
