According to the UK Defence Journal, a French Navy frigate detected a Russian submarine, likely Novorossiisk, during a surveillance operation in the North Atlantic. NATO emphasized the importance of maritime vigilance for the defense of the Alliance. Novorossiisk, a Kilo II class submarine, has previously been involved in missions in the Mediterranean Sea and was built in 2013. Although there have been rumors about technical issues, Russia has denied these claims.
