The European Commission has announced that it will launch an investigation into Chinese online retailer Shein on suspicion of breaching EU rules. The Commission also plans to introduce a handling fee on e-commerce items imported into the EU to cover the costs of extensive customs controls. Some 4.6 billion low-value shipments entered the EU market last year, raising concerns about whether these products comply with EU law.
