Echinus Geyser, the largest acidic geyser in the world, located in Yellowstone Park, erupted for the first time after a six-year period of inactivity. The last eruption occurred in 2020, and park officials announced that it is unknown whether the geyser's activity will continue during the summer season. Geysers, including Echinus, can become active for short periods, followed by rest periods.
Echinus Geyser had regular eruptions in the past, but these have become increasingly rare, with only a few eruptions in recent years. Recently, eruptions have returned to the frequency of 2017, lasting up to three minutes and shooting water to heights of approximately 9 meters. The geyser is considered unique due to its acidic composition, which does not degrade the rock structure, being similar to orange juice.
