The British Prime Minister, contested in the party after the electoral disaster

MP Catherine West, a member of the Labour Party, has announced that she will initiate a procedure to challenge the leadership of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, following disappointing results in the recent elections in the UK. Although her initiative has low chances of success, it reflects the growing dissatisfaction with Starmer, who is perceived as unpopular among voters.

West, who represents a constituency in north London, has issued an ultimatum, demanding that a minister submit their candidacy for the leadership position, otherwise she will enter the competition herself. The procedure requires the support of 20% of MPs, that is, 81 out of the 403 party members, as well as the backing of 5% of branches and three affiliated organizations, including unions. West stated that she already has the support of at least 10 MPs, which gives her a promising start in her endeavor. If another leader is elected, they will be appointed Prime Minister by King Charles III.
