The Saudi Arabian heir, Mohammed bin Salman, will make an official visit to France on Sunday and Monday, being received by President Emmanuel Macron. This visit focuses on "regional stakes" in the context of the war in the Middle East, according to the announcement from the Élysée Palace.
The visit will begin with the closing ceremony of the Esports World Cup, an international video game event, organized for the first time outside Saudi Arabia, highlighting the common ambition of the two countries to use sport and culture as tools for rapprochement. Macron and bin Salman will lead the first meeting of the Franco-Saudi strategic partnership council, discussing economic and strategic topics, including military and economic cooperation in the energy and aerospace sectors. The discussions will also address the main regional stakes, considering the instability in Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon, and the need for close coordination for stability and peace in the Near East and Middle East.
