President Nicusor Dan held a telephone conversation on Thursday, October 29, with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. The discussion focused on attacks by the Houthi group against civilian infrastructure, reducing regional tensions, and strengthening relations between Romania and Saudi Arabia.
The head of state expressed Romania’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the Saudi people and firmly condemned the Houthi attacks. Nicusor Dan said that Romania supports the efforts of the Saudi authorities to reduce tensions and protect civilian infrastructure.
The president emphasized that Romania’s experience in the Black Sea region shows that threats to freedom of navigation can have global consequences. Protecting trade routes and supply chains represents, in his view, a common interest.
During the conversation, the two officials also discussed deepening political and economic relations. Nicusor Dan stated that Saudi Arabia is one of Romania’s most important partners in the Gulf and that opportunities for cooperation between the two countries remain.
