The authorities in the Crimean Peninsula have implemented a network of street public phones for emergency calls, in the context where mobile communications are often disrupted due to Ukrainian attacks. Ukraine has targeted supply lines, military bases, and power plants in Crimea, which was unilaterally annexed by Russia in 2014, an action not recognized internationally.

The administration of the city of Eupatoria announced the installation of these phones to provide an additional contact option with emergency services. Residents, such as Maria Ushakova, have expressed hope that these phones will work in case of power outages, considering the issues with electricity supply and fuel shortages caused by Ukrainian attacks. These conditions have led to the cancellation of summer camps for children and restrictions in the schedule of cafes and public transport.
