Russian attacks have left more than 850,000 consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions without electricity

Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, carried out on the night from Saturday to Sunday, left more than 850,000 consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions without electricity, according to local authorities and the DTEK operator.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, more than 600,000 residents were left without power after several important energy facilities were damaged in overnight bombardments. DTEK announced that work to restore the network is underway, but is being hampered by repeated attacks.

A Russian drone also struck a critical facility in the Kharkiv region. The mayor of the city of Zlatopil, Mikola Baksheiev, said that nearly 250,000 consumers were affected, while emergency teams are trying to repair the damage.

The attacks are taking place as Ukraine prepares for another winter of war. The previous night, energy infrastructure in five regions had been targeted by bombardments. Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of striking critical targets ahead of trilateral negotiations scheduled in Abu Dhabi. Kyiv is facing serious problems with electricity, water, and heating supplies.
