In the city of Gebze, Turkey, a seven-story building collapsed on Wednesday, resulting in the death of two people and the injury of three others, all from the same family. The victims include a 43-year-old man, a 37-year-old woman, and their three children. The body of one of the children, Muhammed Emir Bilir, aged 12, has been recovered, but the other victim has not yet been identified. Hundreds of workers from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) are involved in the rescue operations.

The mayor of the city, Zinnur Büyükgöz, suggested that the collapse may be related to nearby subway construction work. The incident occurred shortly after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake affected western Turkey, causing the collapse of other buildings, but with no reported casualties in those cases.
