Israeli settlers attacked a mosque in the village of Bazariya, West Bank, causing damage by setting it on fire.
The incident was reported on Tuesday by Israeli and Palestinian media, which mentioned that the attackers left graffiti in Hebrew addressed to the American ambassador in Israel, Mike Huckabee, with the message "Greetings from terrorists." Huckabee, known for supporting the settlers, recently used the term "Israeli terrorists" in the context of attacks on Palestinian families. The attack took place on Monday night, and the Israeli army intervened after receiving alerts, but the suspects managed to escape.
Since the beginning of the year, over ten similar attacks against mosques in the West Bank have been reported. The Israeli army condemned these acts of vandalism and opened an investigation, in a context where tensions in the region have significantly increased following the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, over 1,100 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations and armed clashes since then.
Criticism of the Israeli army is growing, being accused of ineffectiveness in preventing attacks by radical settlers.
