Two men, a 27-year-old Pole and a 33-year-old Afghan, were arrested following the collapse of a building in Görlitz, Germany, on May 18, an incident that resulted in the death of three people, including two Romanian tourists.
Local authorities suspect that they damaged the walls inside the building, causing an explosion. Investigators discovered that the suspects were in the area of the building at the time of the collapse, looking for items to steal, such as bicycles and non-ferrous metals. The police confirmed that the two managed to enter the building that later collapsed.
The investigation is complicated by the need to clear the rubble, and the suspects were already in pre-trial detention for another crime.
