According to the Financial Times publication, the hacker group known as 'Salt Typhoon' has managed to compromise the email accounts of some members of the China Commission in the House of Representatives and of assistants in the foreign affairs, intelligence, and armed forces committees. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has rejected these accusations, claiming political disinformation. Details about the exact number of targeted members have not been specified, and the FBI has not commented on the incident.

Hackers have been a constant concern for the U.S. intelligence community, which has previously reported cyberattacks on lawmakers. In the past, the U.S. has imposed sanctions against individuals and companies linked to these hacking activities. Beijing has repeatedly denied involvement in such espionage actions, emphasizing that it opposes the spread of false information about China.
