Carrefour, the largest European retailer, is considering selling its operations in Poland, according to the publication Warsaw Business Journal. The company has 783 stores in Poland but is facing internal financial pressures and fierce competition from discount store chains. JP Morgan has been hired to seek buyers for the Polish portfolio, and the Ukrainian group Fozzy may be interested in the acquisition.
Additionally, Carrefour may sell its Romanian subsidiary to the Polish group Zabka, which already owns convenience stores in the country. Zabka has declined to comment on the negotiations but mentioned that it is evaluating acquisition opportunities. This move comes after Carrefour exited the Italian market and is considering selling its subsidiary in Argentina.
