Carrefour has officially concluded its operations in Romania, finalizing the sale of its operations to Pavăl Holding, the company of the Pavăl brothers, Dragoș and Adrian Pavăl, for an estimated value of 823 million euros. This transaction, one of the most significant in Romanian retail, marks the end of over 25 years of the French retailer's presence in the local market. Carrefour's president, Alexandre Bompard, thanked the teams in Romania for their commitment, emphasizing that the decision is part of the strategy to focus activities on priority markets. Carrefour entered the Romanian market in 2001, expanding to approximately 478 stores. Pavăl Holding intends to continue the company's development, maintaining collaborations with local suppliers and investing in the modernization of the stores. The change of ownership will not immediately affect the operation of the stores, but it represents a significant moment for Romanian retail.
