On September 10, a bombing attack in Yemen resulted in the deaths of 31 journalists and media workers, in what is described as the second deadliest attack on the press, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. The attack targeted residential areas and government institutions and was described by the editor-in-chief of the newspaper 26 September as a "massacre without precedent." Israel is criticized for attacks on journalists, although it denies these allegations.
