A cargo ship was attacked on Tuesday by the Houthi group in the Bab el-Mandeb strait, resulting in the death of three crew members.

A small cargo ship, 'Tihamah', flying the Tanzanian flag, was attacked on Tuesday in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait by the Houthi group from Yemen, allied with Iran. According to sources from the Yemeni coast guard and military officials, three crew members, two Pakistanis and one Indonesian, lost their lives in the attack.

This could be the first time that deaths are recorded as a result of a Houthi attack on a cargo ship since the beginning of the conflict in the Middle East. Although the rebels did not claim responsibility, they announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea.

UK Maritime Trade Operations announced that a cargo ship near the city of Al-Mokha was hit by an unidentified projectile. Attacks in this area have increased uncertainty for shipping companies, considering that the Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a crucial route for maritime transport. Additionally, the ship was not operated by Saudi Arabia at the time of the attack, and the owner did not respond to requests for comments.
