Three people were killed and another 36 were injured in missile and drone attacks claimed on Wednesday by Houthi rebels against the airports in Riyadh and Abha, Saudi Arabia. The victims were an Egyptian citizen, an Algerian citizen, and a Sudanese citizen. Saudi authorities also reported material damage, and some of the injured are in serious condition.
The military coalition led by Riyadh announced that it had destroyed the ballistic missile launch platform used in the attack on the capital's airport. Air traffic from Riyadh has been disrupted for several days after the Houthis warned airlines that Saudi airspace was unsafe.
The attacks are taking place amid the resurgence of the conflict in Yemen, where Iran-backed rebels control the capital, Sanaa, and vast regions of the country. According to the International Organization for Migration, more than 201,000 people have been displaced since the resumption of hostilities.
Clashes in western Yemen left at least 92 people dead on Wednesday, bringing the number of combatants killed since Monday to 330. Saudi Arabia continues its bombardment of areas controlled by the Houthis, while Yemeni government forces are attempting to regain ground.
