A report from the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT) revealed that several American companies, including HBO Max and Amazon, have hired North Korean computer scientists who concealed their identity to obtain contracts in the animation field. These computer scientists, coming from Kim Jong-un's regime, previously worked for the public animation studio SEK, involved in the production of "The Simpsons Movie." According to UN sanctions, North Koreans cannot legally work abroad.

The report also emphasizes that cryptocurrency theft has become a major source of income for North Korea, with stolen amounts estimated at $1.19 billion in 2024. The MSMT, composed of several countries, was established to oversee the implementation of sanctions and prevent illegal activities of the North Korean regime.
