The authorities in Taiwan have arrested two employees of the American company Super Micro Computer as part of an investigation into the illegal transfer of artificial intelligence servers to China, equipped with Nvidia chips subject to export restrictions imposed by the United States.

Prosecutor Huang Sheng stated that new individuals are being investigated, of which six have been placed in preventive detention. It is suspected that commercial documents were falsified to facilitate the shipment of approximately 50 servers to mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao. The investigation, which began in May, targets high-performance servers intended for artificial intelligence applications. Recently, authorities conducted searches at six residences and the offices of companies involved, including Super Micro Computer and Albatron Technology. Three suspects were already in custody since May, and Super Micro Computer stated that it complies with U.S. export regulations.

The case is linked to a separate investigation in Singapore, where luxury goods worth 40 million dollars were confiscated in connection with the transfer of AI chips.
