U.S. authorities suspect that Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s chief executive, may have had a romantic relationship with Alice Huang, a Singaporean businesswoman whom intelligence agencies believe was recruited by China’s Ministry of State Security. The information appears in a memorandum cited by the Financial Times and sent to a select group of U.S. officials ahead of the Donald Trump–Xi Jinping summit in May.
Alice Huang held an executive position at Megaspeed, a company that supplies IT infrastructure and uses Nvidia processors. The firm has long been on the radar of U.S. authorities amid suspicions that advanced chips subject to export restrictions may have reached China.
Nvidia rejects allegations that its processors were illegally redirected and says Jensen Huang’s meetings with customer representatives are part of his regular duties. The company has not confirmed the existence of a romantic relationship or the espionage allegations.
The case has also reached the U.S. Congress. Republicans John Moolenaar, Brian Mast and Rick Crawford asked Huang to attend a closed-door hearing scheduled for November 18, 2026. The lawmakers want explanations about his interactions with Alice Huang and Nvidia’s measures against economic espionage.
The stakes are high: Nvidia processors are essential to the development of artificial intelligence, and China’s access to these technologies is treated in Washington as a national security issue.
